Although choosing the right sock may seem like an unnecessary task, it is actually one of the most important and potentially damaging pieces of clothing someone can choose. Socks ultimately serve as barrier between the shoes and the feet, but why is the right pair of socks so vital?
Socks are the number one requested item amongst homeless shelters but are the least donated. Possibly due to the fact that you can't recycle socks and donate them after use. Sydney Sock Project are currently tackling this issue within Australia and hope to have every homeless person within the country in a comfortable pair of socks.
By Joanna Crothers ABC News: The number of homeless people in Australia jumped by more than 14,000 — or 14 per cent — in the five years to 2016, according to census data which also reveals a "significant" increase in older women on the streets and a growing group living in overcrowded accommodation.
